SHORT & SWEET

Welcoming Words
:
This is a day for celebration.  We have gathered here today because Bride and Groom have reached
that point in their relationship where they desire a greater commitment. Today they are ready to
pledge their love to one another in this union we call marriage.

Groom and Bride, in the days ahead of you, there will be times of conflict and times of joy. Harmony
will be your reward if you follow this advice.

Let your love be stronger than your anger.
Learn the wisdom of compromise, for it is better to bend than to break.
Look for the best in your beloved rather than the worst.
Confide in your partner and ask for help when you need it.
Remember that true friendship is the basis for any lasting relationship.
Give your spouse the same courtesies and kindness’ you bestow on your friends.
Say "I love you" every day.

Vows:
Groom and Bride
, I remind you that marriage is a precious gift; a lifelong dedication to love and a
daily challenge to love one another more fully and more freely.

Groom, with this understanding do you take Bride to be your wedded wife to live together in
marriage. Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her for better or worse, for richer
or poorer, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others and to be faithful only to her, so long as you
both shall live?

Bride, with this understanding do you take Groom to be your wedded husband, to live together in
marriage. Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, for better or worse, for
richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others and to be faithful only to him, so long
as you both shall live?

Rings:
Groom and Bride have chosen rings as symbols of the commitment they are making here today. Since
earliest times the ring has been a symbol of wedded love, an unbroken never ending circle symbolizes
a commitment to love which is also never ending.

-
Groom, take the ring that you have selected, place it on Bride’s finger and say to her these words:
This ring a gift for you / symbolizes my desire / that you be my wife / from this day forward / as
this ring / has no end / neither shall my love for you

Bride, take the ring that you have selected, place it on Groom’s finger and say to him these words:
This ring a gift for you / symbolizes my desire / that you be my husband / from this day forward / as
this ring / has no end / neither shall my love for

Groom and Bride, let these rings serve not as locks binding you together, but as keys, unlocking the
secrets of your hearts for each other to know, and thus bringing you closer together forever.

Challenge to the Bride and Groom:
Groom and Bride,
May you never take each other's love for granted, but always experience that
wonder that exclaims "WOW, out of all in the entire world, you chose me!" and when life is done, may
you be found then as now, hand in hand, still thanking God that you found each other.

Never forget to treat yourselves and each other with respect, and remind yourselves often of what
brought you together in the first place.

Although I'm officiating here today, it is not truly in my power to sanctify, legitimize or bless your
relationship in any way, the two of you have already done that in your hearts.

Now by the power vested in me by the Great State of Ohio I announce that you ARE Husband and
Wife.

YOU MAY SEAL YOUR VOWS WITH A KISS

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my great honor present to you for the first time as Husband and Wife,

Groom and Bride Smith!
